Almost a FIRE with Defective DeLonghi Heater
I have a brand new DeLonghi upright (radiator) heater that almost started a house fire!
It melted the outlet and the outlet cover plate, fried my lighting plug that was also plugged into the same outlet and effected the other outlet / electronics that were on the same circuit.
It melted the outlet plugs to the outlet and plate cover.
It took a decent amount of tugging to pull the outlet out of the outlet.
DeLonghi phone number continues to say the hold time is 2-3 minutes and have been on the phone for over an hour. I've made countless calls with long hold times with no response and finally hung up.

Ripped off by Delongi
I purchased the Delonghi Pinguino portable AC 12,500 btu unit at Costco today for close to 400.00. What a hassle it was to bring the unit home and lug it up my staircase.
I finally put the unit together. I discover the exhaust hose was 12 inches long (way too short) and would not reach my window (just a regular window). I called Delonghi customer service who stated the unit was supposed to come with a 3 feet hose. The company obviously packaged the wrong hose with the unit.
I was told the company would mail me the correct hose. I was willing to wait for the hose. I asked the obvious, confirming I would not have to pay for any shipping. She told me they will not pay the shipping and I would need to pay for the shipping.
WHAT??? I PAID to have the correct hose when purchasing the unit. Why is the customer paying for their mistake? I said 'forget it..
I'm returning this to Costco'.
So here I go again with all the hassle to take this unit back to Costco! This company is ripping customers off!!!

By the the looks you had a loose neutral connection, which will get hot if termination is loose. The long slot on the receptacle is the neutral side, the short slot in the hot side.
Notice the side that is burnt, it's the neutral side. You might want to have and electrician check your outlets. Loose neutrals will start fires, and will never short out. Depending on the age of your house, do you have copper or aluminum.
If aluminum you should have it pigtailed. A 15amp outlet circuit, #14wire is only good for 12amp after derating.
One of these heater operating at max is not safe when sharing with other other appliances or lighting. Good luck
Your heater on high draws 1500watts, at 120 volts that's roughly 12 amps. Keep in mind your outlet is only rated for 15amps brand new.
What additional wattage is the light, and was it on at that time? It it very Likley this is simply a poor connection between the plug and outlet. This can be a common problem with older outlets or defective outlets. Please consider replacing any outlets in your home that are of similar age and show any signs of loose fitting plugs.
In a normal failure the loose connection is the hottest point in the path, not seeing the cord but assuming the melting gets less the further away from the outlet, this most certainly is an outlet failure.
Do you also by chance have aluminum wiring, this can complicate matters, if you do please get an electrician involved to add pigtails or replace conductors were practical.
